Membership
The diverse membership of WBP comes from all levels of governmental, educational, commercial, and association publishing. To be eligible for membership, an individual must have a position connected to book publishing, such as being editors, proofreaders, illustrators, designers, production specialists, translators, indexers, marketers, literary agents, instructors, and legal and training professionals. People involved in printing and binding are not eligible for membership.
The most important benefit of membership in WBP is the opportunity to network with your peers in the book publishing community in metropolitan Washington, DC. WBP sponsors six or seven evening programs each year about publishing topics, occasional daytime programs such as brown-bag lunches or field trips, and the annual Book Design & Effectiveness Competition. Members attend evening programs free of charge and receive a discount on tickets to the awards ceremony and other special events. In addition, members receive a copy of the annual directory.
